Any guesses what this block will be, it is a tricky one as the J this time is the name of a person not what you actually see, which could be confusing to my dear little niece. But it was a fun block to make non-the-less. First step this time around was to mark a sewing line on these four squares. I am so glad I found our about using a sandpaper board, especially on these smaller pieces-no slipping as you mark! The four little marked squares are ready to sew in place. Stitched, trimmed, and ready to press...ooh, this is fun. Does it look like anything yet? After a little more joining of pieces... Pretty pleased with how the pieces fit together. Now I have to move on the second part of this block, a little applique. I put up two photos so you could see what a difference having that extra light at my machine makes. Here we go, everything all sewn together. Let me introduce you to J is for Janet's Lamb. Baaa-utiful!
Hope you have found some time for a little quilting today too. Deb

I am not going to tell you just yet, that would take all of the fun out of it... Everything is cut and ready to go. The first step looks interesting... Oh, goody, I get to use the Flying Geese rulers from Bloc Loc again. I love these things. My tutoriall on how I make these can be found here. I squared up my half-square triangles using my other Bloc Loc ruler. While I did not take a photo of that step this time I have mentioned it in previous posts. Ifound this video on you tube that does a good job of showing how it works. (Again, not being paid to advertise, just sharing a product that I love.) Finally ready to put it all together My companions do not seem nearly as excited to be in the quilt studio today as I am E is for Eight Hands Around I hope you were able to take a little time for quilting today. Just fifteen minutes a day can accomplish a lot over the course of a year. That works out to 5475 minutes which equals 91 hours and fifteen minutes. Yes, think what you could accomplish!
Taking life a stitch at a time, Deb I enjoy watching the birds that visit my feeders. You can often find me out and about with binoculars, notebook, and a field guide or two of birds in hand as I wander the world. I came across a site this week that had wonderful patterns for our feathered friends. They are done in felt, but I can envision all sorts of uses from quilt blocks to ornaments. I will share just a few to tantalize you so be sure and visit Susan and her wonderful blog DownEastThunderFarm.com Again, this is just a small taste of the free patterns provided on Susan's blog. She has archived the patterns onto a single page which makes it very easy to navigate. Click here to go to that page.
I hope you are inspired, Happy Quilting! Deb |
